Well, I guess the vacation's over. Time to get back to inking all those stripes again and again.
D'awwww.
I'm not mad, but only because I know what happened when she met Viv and stuff, which Crystal doesn't know about.
Hmm. Any chance that Crystal's chains she kept from her... "stay" with lord tool were fome the same source as the ones binding Zandra? Inquiring minds want to know.
At the "I'm still mad" comment, I'm fully expecting an "I think I can live with that" response.
Kudos good sir, the atmosphere is amazing.
All the vamps are looking up "Oh shit, we're dead."
And one of them says "We're already dead moron."
"no, I mean we're really really dead now...."
Some of them are pro-Zandra, and some didn't take sides.
Oh, thank goodness! I was terrified this page might end with Crystal having called for help too late, and hitting the ground before Zandra could save her--but of course I should have known better.
Still, you had me on the edge of my seat for a week!
The middle panel with Zandra catching Crystal is absolutely beautiful--I like the diagonal panel layout you went with; it's very striking.
Even if Crystal's still mad at Zandra, at least now she knows, for certain, that Zandra still cares--and hopefully there's some heart-to-heart conversations coming in the near future.
That mid-panel catch there. I'd love a print or a wallpaper of that!
Coming soon, the supernatural adventures of Albino Girl, the half-demon who totally doesn't have any stripes at all.
Whenever you do a nonstandard panel like #3 I'm reminded of how Bill Watterson would often try to push the boundaries of what he could get away with given the constraints of the comic pages.
How does one read between the lines of a graphic story? It's easy. You backpage enough so you can see the difference between today's lines and yestermonth's.
So. Zandra's horns appear to be getting shorter...?
Her head is tilted forward, so her horns could look shorted due to foreshortening.
Unless you are correct, in which case it could be due to foreshadowing.
Unless the vampires are winning, in which case it could be foreboding.
Unless this is Joe's way of ending the comic, which would leave us feeling forsaken.
Now remember, Sandra; don't let the heartfelt emotions make you cry.
Not yet, at least. Get at least an arm's length away from the meltable lady.
Alright now that that's more out of my system; this page is the first that made my eyes well a bit. The emotions you captured on Sandra's face is what did it. That incredible relief, that love, is absolutely perfect. Everything about her and Crystal's posing feels very natural as well - an even more impressive feat when you consider Sandra's extra limbs and so on. Seconding the thought that this would be a wonderful print.
Wow. All the feels. Also, I love how Ivan is the one with the nonchalant expression, pointing up like "told you so."
Anyone else notice that Crystal called for "Sandra" not "Zandra"? Makes me wonder if the chains only bound the concept of "Zandra" and that when someone still recognized her as "Sandra" it broke the spell somehow?
My thought exactly! She isn't bound by one name/one classification.
When she became Zebra Girl, she became a creature that cannot simply be described by one name... not just Nefastis, but human, too. She became Zandra, but it doesn't mean she still isn't Sandra, too.
What a satisfying comic this week. This is what I had hoped to see this morning, but so much better than my own imagination could muster up. Thanks Joe :)
oh goodness this is just...such a good page i love it it makes me so happy and it's so damn good
(now maybe they can kiss?)
Say it with me everyone: awwwwww.
The layout of this page really breaks up the tension of the last few very well. It's like everything has ground to a halt so we can breathe again, at least for a little bit.
I would only be ok with that if Wally gave them his blessing.
So is she back to being Sandra again? Good.
Gotta love a good redemption story.
*music swells*
"Here she is... Ms. Demonica...." 7@=Q
Amazing page LOVE this comic, and this this page is just wow.
I'm going to join in and say that I too love the format of this page. Also, that expression on Sandra in the last panel. So many feels.
And my sympathies to your drawin' hand. Not too many sympathies, however, because I want to see a lot more of her.
Hmm, isn't vampire one pointing the one who embraced* Bloo?
*Turned into a vampire
Yeah, I keep on wondering about him. Where is he? Who is he?
I'm a fairly new reader and I must say that this comic has become very different in plot and tone from what I expected in the beginning. That is not a bad thing.

a) I love this,
b) there is a huge angel-demon thing happening here that I wonder if Joe will explore more deeply. Sandra *did* wear that angel-halo t-shirt for a long time. Maybe that wasn't an accident.
This panel really hurts because I recently lost my best friend and I know I'm never going to get that kind of reunion. :(
I'm sorry, Skeleta. You have my deepest sympathies.
i'm this close to posting the shiny ponyta copypasta but i'll refrain-- this is the best thing to grace my eyes in weeks ...
i think i can die happy now???
