I was a little uncertain about drawing a vampire orgy, but, Hell... it's the last storyline. If this comic's ever going to have an orgy, it's now or never.
Besides, people seem fine with Black Betty traipsing all over the place with no pants.
Really? Could you point me in its direction? Fan art is fan art, and I like to keep track of it.
Not porn, butt...

Oh, yes, I've seen that one. Posted it in the news some weeks back.
We're really going with a "Fook Like Rabbits" joke?
In my defense, this comic has prominently featured at least three different kinds of talking rabbits (including myself), and this is the first time in over seventeen years that I've resorted to that cliche. I'd say that shows some measure of restraint.
I think the real joke is the reactions in the first panel!
Zandra discovering she can still be surprised.
Crystal trying not to stare, but is generally shocked.
And good ol Jack, gladly staring away!
Anyway, while the joke is a little immature it is handled fairly tastefully and there is lots of other content in this page to enjoy as well.
Its just subtle enough to be hilarious without being overtly crude
The orgy is fine for the same reason Black Betty's continued lack of lower-wear is - you handle it tastefully, and just let it be. if you had a panel a page devoted to staring at Betty's bum, we'd probably get fairly miffed with you. If you had done a full page spread of the vampire orgy in great and specific detail, we'd be similarly miffed. (because we are here for story. not puerile jubilation...sorry Jack. XD I'm sure you could do some wonderful things with either subject matter, if you chose, but doing it in comic just slows the pacing XD and insufficiently fed comic nerds looking for their fix of panels are...unfortunate for everyone involved XD )
Absolutely, I'm fine with Betty having no pants.
In general, though, I'd be fine if pants were just abolished. No pants for anyone.
I believe the saying goes,
"Down with pants! Up with skirts!"
Talk about Deus ex Sanguis, eh?
In any case, gotta have that one orgy. I think there's a law about it somewhere.
And dammit, Wally! That's not the face of someone who won!
He did win the fight, but he lost the right to act like they don't owe Zandra anything. He has to eat some humble pie because she saved Crystal while he lost control and kept fighting Southpaw.
He's probably also still suffering from some misguided loyalty, despite all the abuse he got.
And don't forget he literally came back to find an ORGY going on. Wally's distracted right now. Plus awkard. This is awkward and distracting, with your girlfriend in the arms of the assumed enemy in the middle of a vampire orgy while you hold your brothers disembodied hand that is still taking shit at you. I do not blame this boy for being unsure how to feel right now at all.
Not to mention the assumed
Enemy holding his girl probably has a girlcrush on her.
Interesting idea - given that Sam is an Alternate version of Zandra, and is the only other being shown to DO THINGS to vampires (the other than Zandra) when blood is ingested...you wonder if the effect is from Zandra's demon blood, or if all forms and alternatives of Zandra blood Do Things to Vampires, and the demon aspect didn't actually matter (or mattered in determining the effect, not the occurrence of AN effect).
Also Also, I want to see the results of Angle Sandra's blood being drunk by vampires now XD Gives them the giggles? Turns them into puppies? The world may never know.
Yeah, the comic's ending with this storyline. He mentioned it a while back.
What the hell, after all that effort getting back from the Subfusc, then taking about a year to clear up what essentially amounted to a hilarious misunderstanding, it's just ending? Booo.
Cheer up. We've still got a ways to go and it's nice we're getting a storyline to wrap up loose ends. Joe nearly ended it after the Subfusc storyline. It would have been a nice ambiguous end that leaves us wanting more. This one wraps it up a bit more and we're getting to see more of the future. We should trust him to give us an ending worthy of this comic. Nothing can go on forever and after this we get to be exited about what comes next.

If that's the case, than I do hope that, in the future, Joe will sometimes do short comics set in the same universe. There's just so much more going on in it that we never really got to see. Also, I'm really curious how Zandra's rule plays out now that it looks like she's actually started to prove her strength to the local monsters.
Alright, Sam's fate actually got me to smile. I was speculating how he would get out of this situation, but that was the LAST solution to the problem on my mind.
Great gathering of the characters, all back together at last. Wonderful! I'm so very much going to miss this story. Well done.
Man, I'm going to miss this when you finish. It's something I consistently look forward to every week. I love your storylines and your art style is gorgeous.
Joe. Joe. Think about this. Zebra Girl is one of the best comics on the internet. There's so much more that could be done with it! A whole new season of sitcom-like shenanigans with your newly empowered characters!
Gosh Joe, I just really hate to see it end.
Southpaw's comment...I'm dying.
"T'is just a flesh wound!"
Still time to mount it on a plaque and sell it to the Mystery Shack. (My son loves that show. And so, perforce, must I.)
Glad Zandra did finally get over that "I'm an evil monster!" phase. I'll miss this comic, it's been entertaining; I assume we can expect guest occasional appearances in whatever you do next.
Personally I'd be really interested to see Jen's adventures recording the stories of supernatural beings, but I guess it depends on if Joe thinks he has enough material to work with and still keep it fresh.
There's more than enough. Maybe she finds Zeus and he goes "They called me Jupiter" or something.
Will we find out who and/ or what Mr. Chalk is/was/ were before the story ends...?
I seem to remember Joe saying something about this whole plot thread being abandoned at some point.
So I'm guessing "no"
I'm not so sad about it. One final mystery, the strange apparition that might just be evil and knows more than we'd like it to. I hope he returns in another of Joe's comic. I don't even need to know everything about him.
Wait, what? Chalk thread abandoned? If so, we need a Word of Joe on that one. I've been waiting a long time to find out who the hell that guy is.
Well, now, hold on. I never said that plot thread was abandoned.
Glad to hear that the Chalk thread might get resolved. All that setup syas you had some twist in mind for him. It would be apity for him dust to blow away into the foreshadows without our ever finding out what he was about.
I thought it was Lord Incubus, Sandra's 'Demon Dad,' trying to guide her to set him free. He revealed they were the same after he made sexy Crystal illusions to trap her. And then she escaped. But he's a voice in her head when she's trapped by Bloo.
Unless I'm remembering funny. No way am I gonna go through the archives to check.
Jack woke up to stare at the vampire orgy, of course he did. :D
I like the change up that Sam's not human, not Earthling blood causes a different reaction in vampires.
Southpaw is doing a great Black Knight impression.
Mike's toasted from magic. Did we actual settle things with Bloo? Time to back up.
Doubly appropriate that the blood of Sam, who shares a soul with Zandra, also lets the vampires experience a piece of the life they've apparently lost. (Also that it, too, "puts them to bed")
Meanwhile, Rebecca is standing off to the side wondering whether she should join in.
You know what? I don't care what anyone says, I like this new Joe England. I mean, the original will always be the original, and the one whose work I fell in love with when he started drawing Zebra Girl all those years ago, but the second Joe England has admirably taken up the mantle, and nostalgia aside, his work far exceeds the original's.
So good on you, Joe England 2. I look forward to seeing where this goes.
">>it's the last storyline<<. If this comic's ever going to have an orgy, it's now or never."
wait...WHAT?
Yeah, I just read that too. It will be a pity when it is over.
Like... people who were paying attention to the blog bits knew this... last year?
I want to throw in a small thanks for making some of the vamp couplings m/m.
It's not the most positive example, but representation is representation...
Somehow I missed that this was to be the comic's final storyline until now. Since I've been reading this comic for years (I forget exactly how long, but over ten years) this revelation makes me very sad. I'm sure I'll say this again on the last comic, but thanks for the entertainment over the years, Joe.
It's a pretty tame, almost PG orgy to be fair. I'm almost confused why you'd be worried about it, to be honest.
At least nobody's breasts are getting bigger. Can you imagine the shitstorm if THAT happened?
Makes sense that Sam would have some sort of effect what with being Sandra's soul double or however that works.
"I'm just taking a break!"
So, it is just a 'paws' in the fight?
As a long time asexual reader (and lurker) I've gotta say; nice job with the vampire orgy, very tasteful.
In all honesty the joke works, and I'm just happy to see the cast reunited and in fairly good shape. Thanks for all of the comics, really looking forward to seeing how this wraps up.
(I remember back when you couldn't post - how many years ago was that?)
I just wanted to say that I'd missed the last few updates because life got in the way - and it's been quite the cathartic experience reading these last few pages!
Excited and sad for the conclusion - like a good book I will be glad to have seen the end (and that this came to an end! Unlike others I have seen which wither on the vine), but am so sorry that it has to end.
When I settle my current contract dispute, I'll see if I can donate to you for the years your comic has been a part of my life.
Congratulations on the imminent conclusion.
Cheers.
Oh well apparently the title box doesn't work. The more you know!
The title for the above was meant to be: long-time reader, first-time poster.
The title boxes do work, actually! Sort of. I can see them in my special author's control panel. Go figure.
Anyway, thanks very much, Lur-king. It's great to hear from you, and to know that you've enjoyed my work. I hope the ending will meet with your approval. Cheers right back!
Zebra Girl ending? Dang it I'm still mourning "Always Human"! Soon the webcomics world will be a vast wasteland of dust and in-jokes.
Wow! Has it really been 17 years Joe? I've been following Sandra and Co. since you started this endevour. I can't believe it's been that long since it started... I'll be sad when you end Sandra's adventures. Do you have something new after Zebra Girl ends?
