Well. I guess... that explains that?
I'm sure there are worse ways to carry needles. Not like she has many pockets in that outfit.
Well, that happened. And speaking of mamas, will Zandra call hers before this series wraps up? That is one plot thread that has been dangling for a while.
I've been wondering about that myself. Frankly, with how long she's been out of contact, I feel like Zandra's mother would be more relieved than any other emotion, no matter what her daughter looks like on the outside. I mean, when people go missing for that long, their parents have the agony of never knowing what happened to them. She likely suspects Zandra might be dead and thinking that, never having any closure, is ten times worse than finding out your daughter turned into a literal demon.
My headcannon I made just now is they know about and support her career path, she comes from a long line of cobblers, accountants and deamon lords, they haven't contacted her yet because she seems to be getting along fine on her own and trust in her judgement to ask for them when she needs it.

Well, that's disturbing.
"Mama Zebra". One inevitably remembers what Viv said at the end of the "Subfusc" arc (well, technically, what she said implied that Zebra would become a mother, immortal, or both) when you hear that line.
Bloo is insane, but it is difficult to not sympathize with her (well, to a degree at least). She is hollow inside, and views her existence as hollow as well. She is a death seeker.
There are still quite a few plot threads left hanging, such as Mister Chalk and the third nephasti (implied by Incubus). I'm really curious to see how exactly those will be resolved.
Wrapping up all the loose ends will take us years, years of more Zebra Girl before it ends.
I am so in denial about this comic ending it's funny.
Didn't Joe say that the plot veered away from what was planned with Mr. Chalk? If so, an in-comic resolution might not be in the cards, but we could at least be told what might have been.
Hmm. I'm not quite sure how that rumor got started, but I never said that plans regarding Mr. Chalk had changed. If "plans" is the right word. I admit nothing!
Speaking of Chalk: I notice that Bloo's torn cheeks and fangslook vuagely like Chalk's mouth - one of his few visible details.
Does this imply Chalk is related to the vampires? Or is it just a coincidence arising from Joe's drawing style?
I think it's mostly just battle damage since mr chalk is usually seen as a male while miss bloo here is all woman,
I kinda want mr chalk to turn out to be a good creature for lols and spit takes
Omg.....what if Mike is Mister Chalk. We only saw him on fire and asking for help. I didn't see dust or a body. What if that magic surge made him into something else. I am still on the whole he belongs in a hoary nether realm thing but who knows what that could do to someone.
Hmm might be best with a mercy killing at this point, but that's up to Sandra.
Bloo's flexible, right?
Grab her feet, bring them to her mouth, and make her ouroboros herself out of existence.
Boom, problem solved, she's both full and dead, everyone's happy.
She's a portable hole and a bag of holding. You know what'll happen if we put her in herself?
The lesson of Augustus: Autophagia is not always the best choice.
Put her down quick, Zandra. The last thing this comic needs is a vore scene.
I hope we get back to this detail soon

I told you Syringe-O's were a bad cereal concept.
Better than the idea I came up with in high school Home Economics. We had group projects to design our own cereal boxes, and I came up with "Asbest-Os." Which were exactly what the name implied. >_<
Oddly enough, I actually earned a "B," so at least my teacher had a sense of humor.
Some ideas just have to be tried once to be sure, so they can start printing the warning label. Like that one dude who tried to sit on the paint shelf on his stepladder and fell down and broke his ass.
Sorgum cakes. If that girl had some sorgum cakes and homeny grits for breakfast she would never worry about floating up in the air. Nothin fills uou up like southern food. Then me and Black Betty can have some coffee with our biscuits and gravy on the back porch gettin disturbed Ya'll come!
Hey, Riverwolf - My father's father had a mule-powered sorgum mill, with a pipe down to the shed with the evaporation table. We used to get a big tin of sorghum molasses every year. Good stuff. Ever so often, someone gifts me with a jar of it. Also, I know a cook that makes awesome biscuits and gravy. :)
Cant fight when your full of bacon gravy and sour dough biscuits
This whole thing just makes me sad and wish for a cure for vampires that doesn't involve killing them.
Ye can't see it, but I am holding my thumb down, not in disapproval of this strip, but in judgement of Bloo: End her
Poor Bloo, being a vampire really sucks. (Sorry, but I thought someone should say it.)
Zandra needs to come to terms with being bi so that people's boobs will stop expanding ridiculusly.
Poor Bloo's comments are being undercut by her inflating rack
Also, this song might fit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YxaaGgTQYM
Ok, this brings up one major question. if they're literal bags of skin how does the super juice work? Maybe it's all placebo.
So we have topical creams that work through the skin right? But the vampires are slowly becoming empty as well. Maybe the super juice is topical in nature, but is injected into the vamps so they feel "Full" but not full enough to slide down and chill. A bit like how you plan on just having that one bite of cake to make you last till after dinner, ut it just makes you hungry for more.
Hmmm, possible I suppose. I feel like some sort of patch would have worked better then.
I feel it's more complex than simply them being sacks of skin, otherwise any application of force would crumple them into a ball of skin and lopped off members would deflate. Something like they feel empty, but they don't interact with the world as empty unless someone does like what Sandra did. It kind of feels like quantum bullshit, both full and empty until you observe it. Magic has a way of being weird like that sometimes
Is a 'mama zebra' anything like a zeeba neighba?
Impulsive. Bad judgement. Bloo may be croc. She has the teeth for it.
Dammit Joe, I don't want to see this webcomic end! It's too good to loose!

Well, just caught up--I lost this comic about the time the Pookas showed up. Found it again recently, spent the last three days re-reading every goddamn word, then going forward until I finished the archive. Magnificent.
Thanks, Freemage! I'm very glad you found us again.
I've seen lots of different cuts on vampires, but most of them start from a human body which should be dead (lack of working biologicals) and work up from there. Some vampires are a variety of smart zombie, a dead body with something animating it, and maybe some way of drawing on the experiences that body had in life, others are a user of magic in some form, maybe in search of immortality. The process of a human becoming a vampire is always a strong hint as to the logic of what's going on.
This is the first time I think I've seen "vampire as skin balloon with teeth, and a bit of shapeshifting". These vampires remind me of the RPG "vampires as pure spirit, that projects a seemingly physical body, with weaknesses" approach. So, the apparently human body is a solid illusion, a delusion to the vampire themselves, a sort of persistent field of telekinetic force, and maybe mentally projected illusion. Mental illusions don't tend to show in mirrors... The constraints on such a vampire are to do with the vampires attempts to cling to any remnants of their humanity, a useful shape for hunting, and how the (local) laws of reality and magic (if that can bypass reality) work.
Thanks for putting such an interesting twist on a subject some think has been done (or maybe sucked [grin]) to death!
Joe,
I just came back to ZG after a number of years, and I wanted to say how amazing your art and storytelling skills have become. This latest arc has been fantastic, I had a great time marathoning it over the last week.
Thank you.
Ah vampires. Empty inside but thankfully for them they still retain mass in at least one area.
Not a complain, just amused. ;)
