From 'Cerebus the Aardvark' to 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and fully 37.2% of all long-running early-2000s web comics go through a significant tonal shift at some point before finding their voice (or jumping the shark, depending on the comic and the reader's specific mileage. It's fun going back to try pin-pointing the exact point where the comic makes that turn.

For my money, this is the update in which the comic first feels like itself.
