Now I have to wonder, since she mentions Vishnu and Buddha, are all religions real? Are there all kinds of gods running around heaven having some big god-party? Do Zeus and Thor play Loki and Poseidon at beach volleyball, with God as the referee? Do all the nature gods/goddesses hold garden parties and share horticulture tips?
She's actually Lilith, the first original woman. The one God supposedly cast out because she was wicked. Either that or she's Eve.
Her alias "Viv" and other signs point toward her being Eve. Which still brings up the question of "how many other religious beings actually exist?"
Viv is talking about stories.
Her whole point here is that her story was warped and she sees herself as the hero. The other stories might have been warped by time, too. That doesn't necessarily mean that all the gods exist simultaneously, but that their stories -- especially in their times -- were the ones that people propagated and spread. Maybe Siddhartha didn't actually find enlightenment and nirvana but is now just a hippy wandering the Subfusc, but if that's reality (such as it is), that's not what's actually important. It's the power of stories, perspective, belief.
I've always loved this comic. Over the years, I keep returning to it but this page. This page I loved so much I wish it was a poster. How often a male the hero but a female the cause of woe in stories even when both did something they shouldn't have to begin a necessary change? It's something to ponder and saddening but ultimately, just a lovely thing to consider.
