I'll tell you what's circular reasoning! My one and a half websites, that's what! Get it? Get it?? It's... it makes sense! It makes sense if you force it to!
Anyway, it's not circular reasoning. Sam's simply saying that if it was a trick it would be incompetent since no one would fall for it, therefore it's not a trick because they're falling for it.
That's how instincts work, right?
What we have here is either an enemy that can't make his trap sound any good or an ally that can't make his help sound any good. Which do you think the team is gonna get? Trick question. An enemy that incompetent would have just rushed them by now, and probably won.
He took a risk even popping up among them. I'd say that's worth a few points.
Don't they have windows? They could peek out a window to see if there's an army of vampires out there.
Is Crystal claustrophobic? I don't remember seeing her act like that before (then again, not many tunnels).
She probably put a lot of work into that costume. Now it's going to get dirty.
He could turn her into a fox again and she'll be just fine going down a hole after a rabbit!
It looks like he's already taken a pretty major blast to the face. I wonder if that's just how he looks/a result of having dug their in the middle of the night or if he's gotten on Zandra's bad side before.
In Borderlands 2 they had a similiar sentence:
"If this was supposed to be a trap, it would have at least sounded doable. I am in."
There is one very interesting way to build trust: Show them how they can destory you first.
Of course that only works if you are truly selfless to begin with. Definitely not in this case, but might be worth it for later.
I realised that pattern in Elder Scrolls Online and Mass Effect 3.
Both the ESO Hollow Men (Aldmery storyline) and the Catalyst open with how they can be killed/defeated.
The core idea of a lie is that we humans like being alive that much, we are willing to do anything to keep it. But opening with "how to kill/defeat me" shows that there is no such fear. That there is no reason to lie about what comes next.
Oh sure, I'm flammable. You can just burn me right up if I cross you. Pay no attention to the flame ward in my pocket that makes me immune to fire.
There's always another trick to the trap, if they want you bad enough. Not that I think Walter is lying, he seems nice enough.
If you try to get too clever over it, you can really screw up....
Sometimes it's better to do the stupid thing. 7@=e
Ooh, I like this comment system.
I'm really starting to like this ghoul character. I'm just partial to ghouls, honestly.
