It's just like when Hannibal and the guys would trick B.A. into flying whenever they needed to get somewhere by air, usually with drugs. The alternative, having her panic in the tunnel or refuse to go in and still be there when the vampire hoard breaks in, is much worse. This is just a bit of magic valium.

It may also depend on how far is he going with this. Is she actually going into the tunnel into a hypnotized state or is this to clear her mind and allow her to react more rationally.

Oh, Jack is good at this. Even I am feeling calmer now. Fire can be quite mesmerizing. It's interesting yet a little spooky to see him use it in this way.

I love the layout here. The way edges of flame are paralleled into the edges of the cloudy sky. It's really a beautiful transition.
Also, the shift in orientation and perspective of the panels gives a good sense of going from a closed in space to something very open in the final one.
