There are so many awkward things on this page. Awkward faces. Awkward word balloons. Awkward dialogue. Awkward, awkward. I think this might be one of my most awkward pages in...
Well, at least a week or two.
Oh good, Sam reminded them to go to the house. Even preoccupied trying to keep his sanity, he's a Very Useful Rabbit.
I know, I know, it makes me nervous too, but I've started down this road and I have to see it through. I can't make the characters aware of something and then not have them acknowledge it here and there! Once the guns are drawn I've gotta stick to 'em.
A phrase which, in this context, sounds almost like a pun. But I won't investigate, God knows I don't want to draw attention to this.
...her bra feels tight?
Huh, I see the boob fairy strikes again.
Someone more clever than me make an idea for Zebra Girl, Breasts and April Fools
Well, frankly, Mystic Miasma's more of a tourist thing. I prefer Strangie's... 7@=Q
Yeah, there are awkwardnesses, but I'm too gay for all the ladies to think poorly of it. :3
I wonder if there's not some kind of spell on our group of heroes? They are enjoying the town like a group of tourists. Where's the urgency?
I mean - they are there to hunt monsters, Sam's been urging them to hurry... and they go to a restaurant. Then they discuss how delish the meal was. FOCUS PEOPLE!
Something is amiss... and I think it's going to tie in with Sam's feeling of impending doom and tight ... *ahem* articles of clothing of the female variety, and even Tomie's skin color changing.
Can't wait to see how this turns out!!!
Mystic miasma? Perhaps our plucky (whatever that means)band of heroes are experiencing some sort of Xanth Effect. In Piers Anthony's Xanth series, the land of Xanth was so over infused with magic that it caused spontaneous magical events such as springs flowing with love potion, magical mutations, space-time distortions at the borders, and other strange environmental effects.
something is definitely amiss--i'm curious if perhaps zandra is doing something to try and effect people's emotions? gnnn i can't wait for the next page!
Hey Joe.
Just thought I'd pop into the comment section and ask if you are ok. I'm also wondering what it's like for you with the comment section now. Is it a source of motivation, or have there been unfriendly comments?
I know that a lot of authors receive comments and messages that just suck he life out of them. I don't know if you have received such comments, or the whole picture behind the scenes. As a fan it has been a pleasure to read the reaction of other fans and your own thoughts. Just thought I'd take the time out of my day to say thank you for the joy you've brought to myself and others.
Oh and in regards to this page: The face and reaction in the last panel are priceless!
I'm fine Justafan, thanks for asking! It's been a long week alright, for a number of reasons, but it's alright. I'm just glad that you and others enjoy my work. That's the greatest help of all!
And even when the comments are critical, it still tells me that people are out there reading Zebra Girl, and that they care enough to remark on it. So I'm grateful for the comments, in any case.
Maybe the situation is awkward for the characters, but they can enjoy the luxurious linework and grayscale shading they're soaking in.
I sure do, anyhow. :)
I support your creative decisions and I am enjoying the comic a lot. I pretty much always have.
I like the intrusion of the word balloon from the left bottom panel to the right bottom. It serves to link the three lower panels in the correct order.
And with other commenters I will agree that something must be affecting our heroes.
So Zandra, Tomie, and Crystal are all knocking boots with partners. Also Tomie is now 'entering golem puberty'.
And many ancient idols and other pagan figures have unrealistically large breasts as a symbol of female fertility.
Okay. Will there also be a noted widening of the pelvises, or is it much harder for "incidental magic effects" to affect bones?
I never thought of her as a golem. Golems imply no will of their own and following blind orders, to which Tomie doesn't.
"The Somebody Else's Problem field is much simpler and more effective, and what's more can be run for over a hundred years on a single torch battery. This is because it relies on people's natural disposition not to see anything they don't want to, weren't expecting, or can't explain."
Not that he is the sole proprietor of witty and creative spots of cleverly amusing interpretations of magic, but if I had to guess... That sounds like something from the pen of Terry Pratchett?
The damn house spell strikes again. Good to get confirmation about why they were acting so ADHD about it. :( Hopefully Jack can whip up some counterspell that mitigates the effects.
Love the intensity of Jack's expression in the last panel, but does anyone else see a smidgeon of David Tennant in that profile?
