Welp! Another page thrown up just a couple of hours before midnight, another long, hard slog through sleepless hours. Y'know, it's funny... years ago I thought that if I did the comic long enough I'd eventually become professional enough to manage my time better. That I would become capable of judging my needs and the needs of the work, and act accordingly. But it's still a struggle every single week to drag it out onto paper and computers. I guess it'll be a struggle right to the end. Maybe I just don't have it in me not to suffer for my craft.

But that's maudlin! I'm not complaining. In fact, I'd like to thank everyone who said a kind word regarding last week's announcement. I haven't yet replied to every comment that I meant to, there were so many! But thanks, everyone. It means a lot.

Now, hey, let's talk about the actual page again. History sure does seem to repeat itself in this comic, doesn't it? Let's hope those spikes help Crystal fare better than last time! I dunno, maybe they'll act as a cushion.

If the second panel is any indication, Bloo is going to be forced to learn the error of her ways.

I didn't think anyone would pick up on that.

It'd sure be a nice time for Zandra to break free...

Yeah, I've a feeling that if Bloo even hurts Crystal, she won't even be a stain on the wall, when Zandra gets through with her!!!

I think Jack should be returning pretty soon as well. And our favorite Werewolf? Well, let's just say, he's going to be very "disarming" in a few seconds. I just think it's going to be a matter of who gets to Bloo first!

Or for Black Betty and police squad to arrive. I have a feeling it would be just about even odds.

While you may feel like you haven't gotten any better at managing your time or gotten professional, you're certainly using your art time more efficiently. Imagine trying to do the current page even five years ago and compare how long it actually took to how long it would have taken before you refined your technique as much as you have.

You're basically doing way way way more work than you used to, but you're much better at it. If you let your art stagnate and have your style stay like it was five years ago, I'm sure by now you'd be able to crank out a page a day.

In short, you're not giving yourself enough credit for all the work you're putting in to each page. I look forward to the conclusion of Zebra Girl and the start of a new project that will probably come next.

Crystal fate is kind of obvious. Not because of bad writing but because of good writing. Or I should say The Fate Bloo got planned for her. Bloo needs a Weapon that a Wizard and Giant Werewolf can not fight. And whats the Weapon Vampires use most on the Innocent? She going to try and turn her . If she tries Zandra will creatively kill her. If she succeeds Zandra will be creative and do worse than Kill her Like bury her alive with no Arms Legs or Eyes. And Crystal will learn what happens to humans that fight Vampires. The get turned and used to kill those they Love.. Will Jack be able to deal with it what about Wally? Will they save her before she drained?

we appreciate your struggle. I have never really freaked out over a late update.

... is that you risk dividing your own forces in the process. Or clumping them where they can be attacked from all sides.

Methinks it's time for us to see how much _all_ of our heroes have grown since we first met them... (Reread from the beginning recently; it's impressive how much the art and storytelling have grown.)

I'll be sorry when this story ends... but I have to respect the decision to bring it to a proper conclusion rather than letting it go on too long and lose energy.

I agree with just about everyone: sorry that it's going to end, glad that it's going to end properly. I'm not so worried that it will sag into irrelevance or lose energy--I trust you, and you can always cut back if weekly updates get to be too much. But I hate to think of it ending with important plot points unresolved. The Omphalos, the reign of terror, and of course the chains. And Mr. Chalk, if there's anyone besides me who hasn't figured out what's with him. Thank you for not ending it with Zandra's return--that would have been way too open an ending. My two other favorite comics, Girl Genius and Empowered, have lots of questions dangling, and the creators of Empowered and Precocious have chronic problems with their drawing hands, even if they're still going strong storywise.

While I could easily be misreading simple artistic styling and stuff: Anyone else notice that the sky has started getting a little... 'stripy'?

I too am going to be sad to see this comic come to its end. So many good things ending lately. It's been a hell of a ride though.

Perhaps instead of doing one page a week, you should take a week out of the month to do four instead? That way you can leave it up to the cache to upload on time and you can relax for the rest of the month.
