Given how magic seems to work, I wonder if all the names that Sandra goes by causes it trouble.
Those chain were built to hold a Nefastis named Zandra. Crystal's calling out for Sandra, the original human name and not what all her minions are calling her.
That and Crystal wearing chains may be having an odd interaction.
Or just the power of forgiveness.

It is definetly a name thing. Most "beings" you would tie up in those chains would only ever have been one thing - a demon, prometheus. They have one defining name.
But Zandra also was Sandra, a human once. She is also a Nefastis, the Zebragirl, Sandra the Demon and a few other names.
And those chains have no power to hold a human called Sandra if a friend calls for her. Maybe if they had also contained the name Sandra, they might have worked.

As long as she is not bound or carrying someone, Zandra can pretty much teleport around by "shifting her Focus". Thus she could get to Crystall in a instant.

I'm thinking that this event parallels the one where Broudshoulders traps Sandra in the Hell bubble, and she escapes by embracing her demon side.
Now things have come full circle, and she is escaping Bloo's set up by embracing her human side once again.
Both events took a major internal shift for her. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Someone else made the comment about seeing Sandra's final form. If the chains are meant to hold a demon, and Sandra is the human part of our hero, does that mean Sandra is going to/has already shift(ed) to a more human form, and that's why the chains broke?

The chains aren't actually meant to hold a demon, they're meant to hold a Nephastis, which is the new name for the race that at the moment consists of her and Professor Broadshoulders.
It's explained... back when Bloo met with the chain maker guy.
