It always comes down to the person wearing glasses, doesn't it?
I love how Betty is just so into the drama that she doesn't mind being excluded or called a freak.
I don't imagine she'd argue with anyone who called her a freak, either. But yeah, her line made me laugh out loud here. I love Betty.
I hate to be a "me, too"er, but I just wanted to let Joe know he hit the right note with that one and I laughed, too. No upvote feature on this comment system, so... "me, too".
She's playing along to get Becky some sense of purpose and authority (because she knows Zandra can't stay with the vamps after this. Rebecca has to step up as leader), but I love it when someone does that, parroting someone's line about themselves.
I don't think anybody can tell if she's got a plan or is just messing with everyone.
"Messing with everyone" sounds like a plan to me!
(Not necessarily a helpful one, mind you.)
Well glasses give gravitas you know.
I see the cop's not been affected by the uhh... controversial torso situation.
Yet?
Simple! she's the only non-magical / mythical female left in the strip.
also, starting a pool on how long before she notices her radio is now cordless, any takers?
I'll bid a pantsless Jack on "2 seconds after she tries to use it," please note that "2 seconds" is metaphoric, meaning "shortly" in this case.
Jack pantless is not a metaphor, however.
You don't know that. Her clothing's not exactly skintight - and we've only seen the one shot of her torso in the last panel thus far.
I checked in on my phone, and zoomed in quite a bit to admire the art.
I burst out laughing when I scrolled to the right to see Betty.
Betty's out of a lot of things. She's out of the question, she's out of her mind. She's almost out of her clothes.
Two things she's not out of, though, are charm and appeal.
Her teeth are included in her charm and appeal.
What?
She's out of control, she's outside the box, she's out of sight. She's out of excuses, (did she ever use excuses?) She's out of the closet!
Anyone else taking a death Pool for when the cop dies or gets turned?
I'm betting that the cop isn't going to die in this storyarc.
Hopefully not any time soon. Part of the challenge of Zandra setting up a stable little kingdom is going to be getting somebody in local law enforcement on their side.
God I love betty's design; it's like a neopolitan icecream of Sexy, whimsical and psychotic.
Really hope you do something with her when you finish Zebra girl Joe.
Oh Betty, you are already the center of so many questions (most of them single word ones), I think you can do the rest of us a favor and stay out of this one at least.
I just love the ambiguity about whether Betty is just being typical for her kind (she IS one of the "fair folk" after all) or if she's ..."out there" even by their standards.
Also, cool to know that she doesn't take insults too personally; pretty sure that policewoman could only do something between Jack (no not that Jack) and Shit if a Vorpal Pook decided to see how funny she'd look minus several major body parts.
So she just has to talk the vampires who aren't doing anything into... continuing to not do anything?
I think the idea is for Rebecca to convince them to pick the correct side...
Or maybe "Get down on the ground! Hands where I can see them! Stop, or my mo.... uh... cop friend will shoot!"
They are in the state of uncertainty. They are doing nothing (which is just fine from police pow, but they are standing too close, and can become collateral far too easily), but any second they can either join the fight (which inevitably will lead to more collateral regardless of side they chose, therefore - unacceptable), or run away (which will lead to bunch of uncontrollable vamps rampaging through town, and therefore - unacceptable). The job of police, in this case, is to make sure that bystanders will leave zone of potential danger and'll remain bystanders, without need to reclassify them as "injured" or "perpetrators". Main task of police officer is to prevent crime, not to clean fallout after it.
It's interesting to see Betty has so much self-knowledge that she agrees right away. ;)
Someday I gotta find a way to use that last line myself...perfect timing!
Is zebra girl really so close to the end? I got the impression from ask Zandra and Mr. Chalk that the stakes are going to get bigger.
I just now noticed the chain between the rabbit elemental's (mental get it?) ears.
Why's it always gotta be the four-eyes? Cliche, man.
Doing an archive dive, this scene reminds me of when Betty asked Emily whose side she should take. She's not big on deciding things herself, is she?
Pook like taking orders. It amuses them. Doing things on your own initiative requires planning and creates things like responsibility and blame. Best to leave that to others.
