I apologize again for my lateness. But I'd also like to apologize to anyone who was caught off-guard last week when I mentioned that this is the final storyline! I first announced it a while back, and it's easy for me to forget that not everyone catches every news post.
So, again, for anyone who hasn't gotten the memo... Heaven on Earth is Zebra Girl's last chapter. And I'm sure that'll become more "real" for all of us the closer we get to the end!
The final page of Zebra Girl. Man. Hard to believe that there's going to be such a thing.
But never mind that for now. Look! Bloo's back! I'll bet someone's about to get a piece of someone else's mind.
So hey, I've been writing a fiction on a boring commute for something to do, and I needed an inciting incident for it. With the relevation of zebragirl ending, I've decided your the inciting incident. Or rather, the ending of the comic 'pandagirl', the protagonist's favourite comic since he was thirteen. I also want to figure out a way for the author to be important later and help the protagonist with his quest. Which is why your expy is going to be called 'Joe Chekov'.
I didn't say it was a GOOD fiction.
Sounds good to me, Fluffoth! I'm flattered and enthused to play a part in your own creative endeavor. I'm already looking forward to reading it!
So what's next, Joe? Don't be coy. Don't be shy. Don't be a tease. Please? ;)
...but I like it when Joe teases m-us. teases us
-////-
he teases us so well...!
"But never mind that for now. Look! Bloo's back! I'll bet someone's about to get a piece of someone else's mind."
Sliced up properly, I'm sure there will be enough for everyone to have a piece.
hm
I wonder if this is going to be death or friendship?
Something tells me Bloo would prefer death.
The vampire singing about the coming of the sun, maybe?
What I was thinking
But I think she going to get spaired like Eve did for Zandra Zandra will do for her...But Mike ? Mikes Dead if he survived...
I'd guess that the magic has reset him to human again.
I'm halfway expecting Bloo to use the word "sprakkled" before this is over...
(off topic, since I'm thinking of Mabel at the moment, what was your inspiration for her, Joe? Easily the best "side character" in the series aside from Tool)
She has many references to Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. She also sounds very Carroll-y.
Yes, her inspiration definitely stems almost entirely from Lewis Carroll's work. With maybe a little Neil Gaiman.
Is that a permanent scar for Wally? Kind of like where one of the only things that can damper a werewolf's regeneration is another werewolf's claws and teeth?
It's funny how one's mind can focus on tiny details when a large web of things are going on.
I know you sell pdf versions of your volumes as well paperback but I'm wondering when your comic ends, will you sell an omnibus version that collects the entire comic in one massive paperback and pdf?
I too would like to know this. I'm very fond of this comic and would buy a copy just to be able to have a printed version of the first panel of page 743.
That song choice is marvelous. Such a rich subtext! I love it!
You're not going to go all Joss Whedon on us are you?
I'm thinking not. Crystal and Sandra have yet to bone off-panel, and I'm pretty sure that's a thing that'll happen.
I'm going to miss this comic but as they say all good things must come to an end. Your art has gone from good to amazing and each page has become a beautiful work of art.
I have no idea what your next work will be or how long it will take to start (you deserve a vacation!) but I'm sure it's going to be good.
I've been reading Zebra girl from almost the beginning. I've loved seeing your characters develop and you try so many different things with your art. Thank you so much for sharing your time and art with us over the years!
Wonder what's going to happen next for Bloo. Sandra won't kill her, not after all this, but as Jafar and Iago in Aladdin both said, you'd be surprised what you can live through. Even more so when you're a vampire.
"Here comes the Sun".
I am uncertain if Bloo is comitting Suicide by Sunrise. Or she is refering to Zandra as "the Sun".
Nah, she fades into invisibility with the sunrise.
She'd look better as ashes.
And now I have the song stuck in my head. Damn you Joe!
(does a little research)
Oh, "bloofer lady" is a dracula reference. Neat. Apparently it's how a small child with a heavy cockney accent might pronounce "beautiful lady." (i.e. beautiful -> booterful -> bloofer)
I wonder: if our heroes keep an eye on the ground, will they notice the two apparently having sex on their left?
But will we finally see the face of the man with the crooked line smile?
Joe, I hope you have another comic planned, as I'm going to miss Sandra (or Zandra) and company.
